Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaking. Feminist Frequency is a web site which hosts video and commentary on the representation of gender roles in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and an American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency explores how women are depicted in popular culture. In her efforts to break down stereotypes of women that exist in pop culture, she has also been working with issues that relate to the targeted harassment women and different classes of individuals online. Sarkeesian also holds a York University master's in social theological, philosophical and political thought. Alongside being an acclaimed public speaker, she has given presentations at TEDxWomen conference and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age, Sarkeesian was fascinated with gender issues as well as feminist ideas. As a student, in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency Website. In 2009, the determined young lady was harassed by the Internet for starting a web that focused on the gender of videogames. But the assault did not deter her instead it made her more determined as a feminist media critic. Her numerous contributions to the feminist field were recognized by a variety of prizes. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and founded Feminist Frequency. This educational non-profit explores the role of women within the popular culture stories.
