Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN as well as HLN. She has a presence presenter on CNN's New Day Weekend and HLN's Weekend Express, as well CNN International. Prior to making the move to CNN in June 2015, she was employed by many local radio stations such as those in Atlanta as well as Nashville. She has reported on wildfires, floods, hurricanes and even blizzards. In the year 2019, she was nominated for the Emmy award for her coverage of the hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. In April of 2011, she covered the Super Tornado Outbreak when 350 tornadoes struck the Southeastern United States within four days. The worst of them occurred on April 27, 2011. With her expertise in environmental science she has also reported on volcanoes, earthquakes as well as other natural disasters and the stories of climate change. Chinchar received a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
